EAGLE BIBLE CHAPEL

To know God and make Him known
I Timothy 3:16

ABOUT
Eagle Bible Chapel had it's start when believers gathered in homes in the 1960s to worship and fellowship together.  In the 1970s, Arctic Mission and then SEND International sent missionary families like the Embrees and Keyes to assist the group here, and Eagle Bible Chapel was officially started in about 1975. Over the years EBC has had a close relationship with SEND and Alaska Bible College, with members attending the college and several pastors coming from Alaska Bible College.
We are a non-denominational Bible church committed to teaching the timeless treasures and principles of God's Word, where all are welcome to fellowship and grow together.
You can expect to find a group who is happy to welcome you to our services, where the Holy Scriptures are central to our teaching.  Our atmosphere is both relaxed and reverent, and we use both traditional hymns and chourses in our worship accomponied by a piano, guitars, trumpet, fiddle and flute.
We would love for you to join us.

The most important question in life is "How can I know God?" If you’re wondering that today, then we are so glad to share with you the only answer that will ever satisfy your heart. It’s a wonderful, true answer found in the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus Himself was asked in John 14 how we can be with the Father. He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
Our prayer is that you would indeed come to know God the Father, through His Son Jesus Christ. Your joy or your sorrow for this life and all eternity depends on your response to Jesus’ invitation. Your destination one moment after you die also depends on your willingness to see your need for a Savior and to believe that need is answered in Jesus’ promise of eternal life.
This is the most important decision of your life.

The Good News
In the eyes of God, all men are created equal—equally guilty. From the moment we came into this world, we were sinners in need of a Savior. The Word of God teaches that we are sinners by our very nature at birth as well as by the deeds of sin we commit. Romans 5:12 states, “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.” Because every one of us is born as the offspring of a sinner, Adam, we are all tainted with the evil and wickedness that is an offense to the very nature of God. Therefore, a murderer is just as guilty as a philanthropist. A thief is just as guilty as a schoolteacher. Regardless of our profession or lot in life, we all stand guilty before God and remain under His wrath. All who die in this state will suffer eternal damnation in the lake of fire.What, then, can be done about this sin problem? How can we escape the everlasting damnation we so judiciously deserve? Can we do anything of our own merit to rid ourselves of this guilt? Absolutely not! God’s Word declares, “For if through the offence of one (Adam) many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many … For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one (Jesus Christ) shall many be made righteous” (Romans 5:15b, 19). Jesus Christ, God manifest in the flesh, came to earth 2,000 years ago and paid the price for our sin as our substitute upon Calvary’s cross. God’s Word states, “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” (1 Timothy 1:15a). He was able to die on our behalf because He was perfectly sinless, unlike any of us. Jesus Christ was both God and man. Because He was God, He lived a sinless life, for God cannot sin. But because He was man, He could die a physical death. He shed His blood on our behalf and bore the punishment each of us deserve. Yet because He was God, He demonstrated victory over death by rising from the dead three days following His crucifixion. This reveals that His work on Calvary’s cross was acceptable and completely sufficient in the eyes of God the Father. Jesus Christ “was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification” (Romans 4:25)!The facts have been presented: All are sinners, Christ died as our substitute and He rose again from the dead proving that His work was accepted by the Father. Yet how can we personally apply this finished work to our own lives? How can we enter into a relationship with our very Creator who suffered and died on our behalf, and how can we have the assurance that we will spend eternity in glory with Him? The Bible clearly declares that God’s gift, the death of Jesus Christ, is a free gift of grace. We certainly do not deserve it, but we can obtain it. We do not need to go to church, get baptized, perform good deeds or work for social justice in order to receive this gift. Upon realizing that we are sinners in need of salvation, we receive this free gift only through a genuine change of mind concerning who Christ is and what He has done for us (repentance) and by believing that He died and rose again on our behalf (faith). Through faith alone in the finished work of Christ on Calvary’s cross, we place our trust in Christ alone as our Savior. At the moment we truly believe, we are assured of eternal life and a personal relationship with God! The perfect righteousness of Christ is credited to our account!God’s Word says: “But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name” (John 1:12); “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9); “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son (Jesus Christ), that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved” (John 3:16-17). Christ came into the world to save all sinners. Trust Christ as your Savior today. Tomorrow may be too late!–MDC

DOCTRINAL STATEMENT
OF
EAGLE BIBLE CHAPEL

THE HOLY SCRIPTURE
We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, consisting of 66 books, to be the plenary, verbally inspired Word of God, the final authority for faith and life, inerrant in the original writings, infallible, and God-breathed.  We believe in the dispensational view of Bible interpretation but reject the extreme teaching known as hyper-dispensationalism.  (II Tim. 3:16, 17; II Peter 1:20, 21; Matt. 5:18; John 16:12-13; I Cor. 2:13; Col. 1:25-26; Eph. 1:10, 3:9)
THE GOD HEAD

 We believe in One Triune God, eternally existing in three persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  They are co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory, and have the same attributes and perfections. (Deut. 6:4; II Cor. 13:14; Matt. 28:19; Gen. 1:26)
GOD THE FATHER
God is a Spirit; infinite, eternal, and unchangeable in His being, love, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness, and truth.  (John 4:23, 24; Eph. 1:17; I Cor. 8:6)
THE PERSON AND WORK OF CHRIST
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the Eternal Son of God, became man without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful man.  (John 1:1, 2, 14; Luke 1:35)
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through His death on the cross as a representative, vicarious, substitutionary sacrifice; and that our justification is made sure by His literal, physical resurrection from the dead. (Rom. 3:24, 25; I Peter 2:24; Eph. 1:7;
I Peter 1:3, 5)
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ ascended to heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God; where, as our High Priest, He fulfills the ministry of representative, intercessor, mediator, and advocate.  (Acts 1:9, 10; Heb. 4:14; I Tim. 2:5; Heb. 7:25; Rom. 8:34; I John 2:1, 2;
Mark 16:19)
THE PERSON AND WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the Person who convicts the world of sin, of righteousness and of judgment; and that He is the supernatural agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers into the body of Christ, indwelling, interceding, and sealing them unto the day of redemption.
(John 16:7-11; II Cor. 3:6; John 6:63; Titus 3:5; I Cor. 12:12-14; Rom. 8:16, 27; Eph. 1:13, 14)
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the divine teacher who guides believers into all truth; and that it is the privilege and duty of all the saved to be filled with and controlled by the Holy Spirit.  (John 16:13; I John 2:20, 27; Eph. 5:18; Gal. 5:16)
THE TOTAL DEPRAVITY OF MAN
We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God; but that in Adam's sin the race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God; and that man is totally depraved, utterly unable of himself to remedy his lost condition. (Gen. 1:26, 27; Rom. 5:12; 3:22, 23; Eph. 2:1-3, 12)
SALVATION
We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to men by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, Whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins.  (Eph. 2:8-10; Rom. 10:9-11, 13; John 1:12; Eph. 1:7; I Peter 1:18, 19)
ASSURANCE
We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God's power and are thus secure in Christ forever.  (John 6:37-40; John 10:27-30; Rom. 8:1, 28, 29, 30, 38, 39; I Cor. 1:4-6;
I Peter 1:3-5)
We believe that it is the privilege of believers to rejoice in the assurance of their salvation through the testimony of God's Word; which, however, clearly forbids the use of Christian liberty as an occasion to the flesh.  (Rom. 13:13-14; Gal 5:13; Titus 2:11-15; Rom. 6:1, 2, 12-15; Rom. 12:1)
THE TWO NATURES OF THE BELIEVER
We believe that every saved person possesses two natures, with provision made for victory of the new nature over the old nature through the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit; and, that claims to the eradication of the old nature in this life are unscriptural.  (Rom. 6:13; 7:15-25; 8:12, 13; Gal. 5:16-25; Eph. 4:22-24; Col. 3:10; I Peter 1:14-16; I John 1:8-10)
SANCTIFICATION
We believe that sanctification which is a setting apart unto God is a threefold work:  past, present, and future.  (Col. 3:1-4; Titus 2:11-14; Rom. 12:1; John 17:15-20; I Thes. 5:23;
Heb. 10:10-13)
SEPARATION
We believe that all the saved should live in such a manner as not to bring reproach upon their Savior and Lord; and, that separation from all religious apostasy, all worldly and sinful pleasures, practices, and associations is commanded of God. (II Tim. 3:1-5; Rom. 12:2; 14:13; I John 2:15-17; II John 1:9-11; II Cor. 6:14; II Cor. 7:1)
MISSIONS
We believe that it is the obligation of the saved to witness by life and by word to the truth of the Holy Scripture and to seek to proclaim the gospel to all mankind.  (Mark 16:15; Acts 1:8;
II Cor. 5:19-20; I Peter 3:15)

 SPIRITUAL GIFTS
We believe God is sovereign in the bestowment of all His gifts and that none of the gifts are necessary for or a proof of salvation or of being Spirit-filled.  (I Cor. 12:4-11; I Pet. 4:10)
All gifts are to be used in accordance with Scriptural guidelines to edify and build up the church and to minister to fellow believers. (Rom.12:6-8; I Cor.12:4-31, 14:1-5 and 26-40; Eph. 4:11-16)
We believe that God does hear and answer the prayer of faith, according to His own will, for the sick and afflicted. (John 15:7; James 5:14-16; I John 5:14, 15)

THE CHURCH
We believe that the church, which is the body and the espoused bride of Christ, is a spiritual organism made up of all born-again persons of this present age.  (Eph. 1:22-23; Eph. 5:25-27; I Cor. 12:12-14; II Cor. 11:2)
We believe that the establishment and continuance of local churches is clearly taught and defined in the New Testament Scriptures.  A local church is an assembly of professed believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, living for the most part in one locality, who meet together in His name for the Lord's Supper, believer’s baptism, worship, praise, prayer, fellowship, testimony, the ministry of the Word, discipline, and the furtherance of the Gospel.  (Acts 14:27, 20:17, 28-30; I Tim. 3:1-13; Titus 1:5-11)
ORDINANCES
We recognize two ordinances of the church for this age:  the Lord's Supper and water baptism.  These ordinances are only for those who have professed faith in Jesus Christ and are not to be regarded as a means of salvation, nor as a means of grace by which special merit is obtained.  The mode of baptism shall be by immersion.  (Matt. 26:26-29, 28:19-20; I Cor. 11:23-32; Acts 8:35-39, 10:47-48, 8:12, 2:41-42)
SATAN
We believe that Satan is a person, the author of sin, and the cause of the fall; that he is the open and declared enemy of God and men; and that he shall be eternally punished in the lake of fire.  (Job 1:6-7; Isaiah 14:12-17; Matt. 4:1-11, 25:41; Rev. 20:10)
THE SECOND ADVENT OF CHRIST
We believe in the Blessed Hope- the personal, imminent, pretribulational, and premillennial coming of the Lord Jesus Christ for His redeemed ones; and His subsequent return to earth with His saints to establish His millennial kingdom.  (I Thes. 4:13-18; Rev. 3:10, 19:11-16, 20:1-6; Zech. 14:4-11)
THE ETERNAL STATE
We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men, the saved to eternal life, and the unsaved to judgment and everlasting punishment.  (John 5:29-29, 11:25-26; Rev. 20:5, 6, 11-15;
Matt. 25:46)
We believe that the souls of the redeemed are, at death, absent from the body and present with the Lord, where in conscious bliss they await the first resurrection, when spirit, soul, and body are reunited to be glorified with the Lord forever.  (Luke 23:43; Rev. 20:4-6; II Cor. 5:8;
Phil. 1:23, 3:21; I Thes. 4:16-17, 5:23; I John 3:2; I Cor. 15:51)
We believe that the souls of unbelievers remain, after death, in conscious misery until the second resurrection, when with soul and body reunited they shall appear at the Great White Throne Judgment, and shall be cast into the lake of fire, not to be annihilated, but to suffer everlasting conscious punishment.  (Luke 16:19-26; Rev. 20:11-15; Matt. 25:41-46; II Thes. 1:7-9;
Jude 1:6-7; Mark 9:43-48)

THE MARRIAGE RELATIONSHIP
We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between one man and one woman.  We believe that any form of sexual activity outside of God’s design in marriage is a sinful perversion of God’s gift of sex. We believe that God disapproves of and forbids any attempt to alter one’s gender by surgery or appearance.  (Gen. 2:24; Gen. 19:5, 13; Gen. 26:8-9; Lev. 18:1-30; Rom. 1: 26-29; 1 Cor. 5:1; 6:9; 1 Thess. 4:1-8; Heb. 13:4)

We believe that the only Scriptural marriage is the joining of one man and one woman.(Gen.2:24; Rom. 7:2; 1 Cor. 7:10; Eph. 5:22-23)

We believe that men and women are spiritually equal in position before God but that God has ordained distinct and separate spiritual functions for men and women in the home and the church.  The husband is to be the leader of the home, and men are to be the leaders (elders and deacons) of the church.  Accordingly, only men are eligible for licensure and ordination by the church.  (Gal. 3:28; Col. 3:18; 1 Tim. 2:8-15; 3:4-5, 12)

We believe that God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society.  The husband is to love his wife as Christ loves the church.  The wife is to submit herself to the Scriptural leadership of her husband as the church submits to the headship of Christ.  Children are an heritage from the Lord.  Parents are responsible for teaching their children spiritual and moral values and leading them, through consistent lifestyle example and appropriate discipline, including Scriptural corporal correction.  (Gen. 1:26-28; Ex. 20:12; Deut. 6:4-9; Ps. 127:3-5; Prov. 19:18; 22:15; 23:13-14; Mk. 10:6-12; 1 Cor. 7:1-16; Eph. 5:21-33; 6:1-4, Col. 3:18-21; Heb. 13:4; 1 Pet. 3:1-7)

We believe that God disapproves of and forbids divorce and intends marriage to last until one of the spouses dies.  Divorce and remarriage is regarded as adultery except on the grounds of fornication.  Although divorced and remarried persons or divorced persons may hold positions of service in the church and be greatly used of God for Christian service, they may not be considered for the offices of elder or deacon.  (Mal. 2:14-17; Matt. 19:3-12; Rom. 7:1-3; 1 Tim. 3:2, 12; Titus 1:6)
THE SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE
We believe that human life begins at conception and that the unborn child is a living human being.  Abortion constitutes the unjustified, unexcused taking of unborn human life.  Abortion is murder.  We reject any teaching that abortions of pregnancies due to rape, incest, birth defects, gender selection, birth or population control, or the physical or mental well being of the mother are acceptable. (Job 3:16; Ps. 51:5; 139:14-16; Isaiah 44:24; 49:1, 5; Jer. 1:5; 20:15-18; Luke 1:44)
We believe that the direct taking of an innocent human life is a moral evil, regardless of the intention.  Life is a gift of God and must be respected from conception until natural death.  Thus we believe that an act or omission which, of itself or by intention, causes death in order to eliminate suffering constitutes a murder contrary to the will of God.  Discontinuing medical procedures that are extraordinary or disproportionate to the expected outcome can be a legitimate refusal of over-zealous treatment.  (Ex. 20:13, 23:7; Matt. 5:21; Acts 17:28)
